Magnolia grandiflora is a large, striking evergreen tree, with large dark green leaves, and large white fragrant flowers. It is native to North America. In Japan, it is often planted as a park tree.
In our neighbourhood, it has grown to about ten meters.
The flowers are usually high up, out of reach, but sometimes we can smell them when they are low down.
The flowers are nearly 30 centimeters in diameter when in full bloom. The petals are pure white and the stamens are a beautiful cream color with an intricate shape.
What a beautiful Magnolia and such big flowers!
