AFTERNOON TEA TIME WITH HOMEMADE APPLE PIE (自家製アップルパイで午後の紅茶)

 

We harvested a few small apples this year as well. 

So my wife boiled them and made apple pie. 

今年も少しだけ小さなリンゴ (アルプス乙女) がなったので、収穫しました. 

リンゴを煮て、アップルパイにしました. 

In the afternoon, we ate apple pie and drank tea in the garden room.

It was delicious.

It was a peaceful afternoon.

午後のひととき、ガーデンルームでアップルパイを食べてお茶を飲みました.

美味しかったです.

穏やかな午後の時間でした.

WALKING IN THE FLOWER GARDEN ON THE BEACH (海岸のお花畑で散歩)

Last weekend morning, I went for a walk to the beach about five minutes away by car. It was a quiet morning with very few people around. The blue sky and sea were beautiful, and there was a fresh breeze blowing.

Most of the summer flowers such as Vitex rotundifolia were gone, but the Asiatic dayflower and water pepper were in full bloom. 

The air was clear and I could see the island of Iki beyond the sea. 

週末の朝、車で5分ほどの海岸に散歩に出かけました. 人影はほとんどなく、静かな朝でした. ブルーの空と海が美しく、そして爽やかな風が吹いていました.

夏の花、ハマゴウはほとんど終わっていて、ツユクサとミゾソバが満開でした. 

空気が澄んでいて、海の彼方には壱岐の島が見えました.

REPEATED FLOWERING OF GERTRUDE JEKYLL ROSE (バラ、ガートルードジェキルの返り咲き)

 

The rose 'Gertrude Jekyll' is blooming again. It's a fragrant rose, our favorite, and we've planted it on either side of the bench at the brick wall. 

バラのガートルードジェキルが返り咲きしています. 香りのよいバラで、私たちのお気に入りで、レンガ塀のベンチの両側に植えています.

COMPOSTING CUT LEAVES OF COLEUS (コリウスの剪定くずを堆肥に)

 

I pruned coleus 'Cherry star' because it was overgrown. I put the cut branches and leaves on top of the green leaves in the compost bin, and it looks gorgeous as if it has bloomed. 

コリウスが徒長したので剪定をしました. その剪定くずを堆肥容器の緑の葉の上に入れたら、花が咲いたように華やかになりました.

WATER HYACINTH AND KILLIFISH SCHOOL (ホテイアオイとメダカの学校)

This year I also grew a water hyacinth in the bathtub pool with water lily, and it has finally bloomed. The flower is a beautiful light purple color. In this small pool, I'm growing white killifish, and if you look closely, you can see small killifish about 2 or 3 millimeters in size swimming around. I hope they grow up and survive the winter. 

バスタブの池に今年はスイレンと一緒にホテイアオイも育てていましたが、やっと花が咲きました. 薄紫色の綺麗な花です. この小さな池では白いメダカを育てていますが、よく見ると2，3ミリほどのちびっこメダカが泳いでいるのが見えました. 冬になる前にしっかり大きくなって、冬を乗り切ってね.

REPARING AND SETTING THE FRP URN PLANTER (FRP製壺型プランターの修理と設置)

 

I received an old urn planter made of FRP from a gardening friend. One of the corners of the square base was broken, so I repaired it.

FRP製の古い壺型プランターを庭友さんからいただきました. 四角い土台の一つの角がが壊れていたので、補修をしました. 

First, I glued the pieces of the straight piece together. 

最初に、まっすぐの部分の破片を接着剤で接着しました. 

Next, both sides of the corner were filled with mortar. 

次に、角の両辺部分にモルタルを充填しました. 

Then I put rebar in each of the holes on both sides. 

そして、両側の穴にそれぞれ鉄筋を入れました. 

Next, I glued the piece of the corner with superglue. 

次に、角の部分の破片を瞬間接着剤で着けました. 

Finally, I filled the holes with mortar and that's it. 

最後に、穴の部分からモルタルを充填して終わりです. 

I was able to repair it much better than I expected. 

思ったよりずっとうまく補修できました. 

This planter was placed under a plum tree. First, I cleared the ground, lined up the bricks around it, poured mortar into it, placed sand on top of it, and lined up the bricks. After leveling the surface, the planter was installed. 

このプランターはスモモの木の下に設置しました. まず整地をして、周りにレンガを並べ、その中にモルタルを流し込んで、その上に砂を置き、レンガを並べました。表面を平らにして、プランターを設置しました.
