Akebia is a vine that grows wild in the mountains, and we often saw it on mountain trails and in streams when we were young hikers. I used to bring them back from the mountains around the end of September and eat them. Now that I have planted it in our garden, I don't go to the mountains to pick it anymore. The jelly-like part where the seeds are is very sweet. I feel the arrival of autumn by eating akebia fruits again this year.
