My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc.
In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.
TEN YEARS OF OUR ENGLISH-STYLE GARDEN (我が家の英国風庭園の10年)
As I mentioned in the preface to this blog, the area where we are building our garden was originally an empty red clay slope.
このブログの前書きにも書いているように、今庭を作っている場所はもともと何もない赤土の斜面でした.

We first built the paths and stairs and then laid the turf.
そこに私たちは最初に園路と階段を作り、芝を貼りました.

The stairs were then shifted and built in the centre, and a terraced raised beds was built where the stairs had been.
その後、階段の位置をずらして中央に作り、階段のあった場所には段々畑のレイズドベッドを作りました.

The brick wall and decking were installed after a trip to the gardens of England in 2010. This was the beginning of the main garden of Petit English Garden.

The potager, on the other hand, was originally a vacant triangle plot of land, which I started to build after a trip to England in 2012. Apple trees were planted around the perimeter and box trees were planted geometrically. The raised beds were then made from boards painted blue-grey. The story behind its creation can be found here. Lovely seeing how you started putting your womderful garden together. You should be very proud of all the hardwork and design you have put in. And only ten years ago , beautiful
Thank you for your warm-hearted comments, Dee. Ten years have gone by and it doesn't take long. When I started blogging, I used the structure of your blog as a reference and got a lot of tips from you. Thank you once again.
