The red-clawed crab lives in East Asia, including Japan, and inhabits rocky shores, banks, stone walls, forests, and wetlands along the coast and riversides. It is a species of crab that is well adapted to aridity.
They usually live in burrows and are often seen in our gardens on rainy days.
