The green soybeans (edamame) sown in early June have reached harvest time. Covering them with fine netting prevented almost all damage from pests like grasshoppers. The yield was greater than expected. Boiling them straight away for a taste test proved delicious, so we enjoyed nibbling the edamame while sipping ale, watching the night-time London street scene through the lighted window of the garden room pub. The remainder was frozen for storage.
6月初旬に種をまいた枝豆が収穫時期を迎えました。細かいネットをかぶせてバッタなどの害虫の被害はほとんどありませんでした。思ったよりたくさん採れました。さっそくボイルして試食してみるとおいしいので、ガーデンルームのパブの窓にライトをつけて夜のロンドンの街角の景色を見ながら枝豆をつまみ、エールを飲んで楽しみました。残りは冷凍保存しました。
