We have been creating small English-style gardens since 2010, and have been doing more of the handful of things we can think of.
We thought it is time to relax and take it easy, and decided to make the garden sustainable 'for us'.
First, we reduce hazardous work. For example, we reduce use of stepladders, e.g. for rose arches.
For a start, the white rose arch has been removed.
We will change our gardens over a year or two.

Dear Poirot
ReplyDeleteAlthough sad to remove lovely plants or garden features it is really sensible to make the garden something you can manage safely and continue to enjoy. Currently, I can manage pruning my roses on the arch but no doubt I will have to have to adapt my garden in the future too.
Best wishes
Ellie
Dear Ellie
DeleteThank you for your comments. Our garden is on a slope, which makes it more dangerous to work in than on level ground. I think we need to rethink the structure of our garden a little bit.
