LIGHT CREAM LYCORIS BLOOMING IN THE BLUEBELL GARDEN (ブルーベルの庭に咲く淡いクリーム色のリコリス)
Light cream Lycoris (L. albiflora) is in bloom now in the bluebell garden.
Red lycoris (L. radiata or Higan-bana, which means flower of other shore) is strongly associated with an image of grave in Japan because it usually bloom during Ohigan, a time when people travel to their ancestors's graves, it blooms without leaves and is blood red. It often grows in rice field, and sometimes near graveyards, and red lycoris is not popular in gardens. However, white, yellow and cream-coloured lycoris is much popular in gardens.

淡いクリーム色のリコリスがブルーベルの庭で今咲いています.
赤いリコリス（ヒガンバナ）はお墓参りをするお彼岸に咲き、花だけで葉がなく、
赤い血の色で、水田によく見られ墓地でも時々見ることから、
日本では墓地のイメージが強くてあまり庭には植えられません.
しかし白、黄色、クリーム色などのリコリスは
ガーデンでもよく育てられています.

HOMEMADE TOFFEE APPLES USING APPLES IN OUR POTAGER (ポタジェのリンゴで林檎飴)
Small-sized apples 'Alps otome' are becoming red, and some have fallen or pecked by birds. So, now it's time for picking the apples.
小型のリンゴのアルプス乙女が赤くなってきて、
落ちるものや鳥につつかれるものもあり、
いよいよ収穫の季節です.
The apple arch is filled with a number of apples at the entrance of the potager.
ポタジェの入り口のリンゴのアーチはリンゴの実でいっぱい
Today we picked about twenty apples,
and we made toffee apples for the first time.
It was interesting to make,
and it tasted so sweet at first and then sour-sweet.
We can enjoy apples for a while.

WOOD DEBRIS ON A BRANCH OF APPLE -- A SIGN OF A HORRIBLE PEST （リンゴの枝の上の木屑は怖ろしい害虫のしるし）
Fruits of espalier apple are ripening now, and we are picking them soon.
I found wood debris on a branch of apple 'Alps Otome (=young girl)' yesterday.
It is a sign of pest; a larva of insect (Anoplophora malasiaca) is eating pith inside the branch. Those branches often die, and it can make a hole plant die.
So, it is a horrible pest for apple, and the pest attacks rose, too.

I inserted a tip of a nozzle of pesticide splay into a small hole,
and sprayed it into a tunnel inside the branch.
殺虫剤のノズルの先端を小さな穴にいれて
枝の中のトンネルに噴霧しました.

MEXICAN BUSH SAGE IN THE RAIN (雨の中のアメジストセージ)
Since last Friday we have a rainy cool weather.
(Max temperature < 25C)
This is the end of summer, and beginning of autumn.
Thank God, we are really relieved.
先週の金曜から雨が降って涼しくなっています.
（最高気温が25度以下）
夏が終わり、秋が始まっています.
本当にほっとしています.
In the central flower bed, Mexican bush sage is in bloom.
Every plant looks relieved, too.
中央花壇ではアメジストセージが咲いています.
どの植物もほっとしているようです.

NEW PROJECT OF REFURBISHING OUR SHED IN THE POTAGER (新プロジェクト：ポタジェのシェッドをリフォーム)
We build a shed (Keter Summit Storage Shed, 8ft X 9ft ) in January 2013.
It is said to be durable because it is made of high density plastic;
it neither rusts nor rots.

2013年の1月に収納小屋（ケーター製サミット）を建てました.
高密度プラスチック製で耐久性がよいとのこと、
錆びたり腐ったりはしません.
Five and a half years have passed,
and the shed has no problems.

5年半が経過しましたが、シェッドに特に問題はありません.
It had been used as a storage shed for gardening and carpentry.
We talked about how we use it hereafter,
and my wife proposed a plan to use it for an entirely different purpose.
ガーデニングと大工仕事の物置小屋として使ってきました.
今後これをどんなふうに使っていくか話し合い、
家内はまったく異なる目的で使う計画を提案しました.

A new project has started in July,
and I carried everything out of the shed.
The double door opening was closed with plywood,
and four telescoping pipe rod were hung under the roof.
Because of the boiling hot weather
it took a longer time than I expected at first to do those things,
however I finish the wall at the end of August.
この新しいプロジェクトは七月にスタートし、
シェッドからすべてのものを運びだしました.
観音開きのドアも合板で閉鎖し、
4本の伸縮性の棒を屋根のしたに架けました.
焼けるような暑い気候のせいで
当初予想したより長くかかりましたが、
壁も八月末までに完成しました.
