There live some praying mantises in our garden.
A praying mantis is a sit-and-wait predator,
and it will stay in one place and scan the environment for potential prey.
One day a praying mantis stayed on a rose flower.
I don't know whether it likes a sweet flavor of Rosa 'Gertrude Jekyll' or not:-)

カマキリはじっと動かずに動く獲物を待ちます

Next day, it remained there, and was waiting some prey.
次の日も同じところにいました
Now it's September, and they have grown enough to breed.
A female praying mantis was laying eggs on a WWF for clematis back of the border.
もう9月になり、カマキリも繁殖の時期

Next season, a number of young nymphs will hatch from the egg,
and a small number of them will survive and grow up.
来年、たくさんのカマキリのこどもが生まれますが
生き残って成虫になるのはごく少数です
