Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

READING IN THE GAZEBO (ガゼボで読書)

It is the national holiday today,
and I spent this morning in the gazebo.
It's fine and a bit hot in the sunshine, however, it was comfortable
in the shade of the gazebo.

There are many flowers in the garden, especially sages.
and a number of bumblebees were buzzing around the flowers.
Several hawk moths were also flying and hovering to suck nectar.

今日は祝日で、午前中はガゼボで過ごしました.
晴れて日向はちょっと暑かったですが、ガゼボの日陰は心地よい日でした.
庭にはたくさんの花、とくにセージが咲いています.
そしてたくさんのハナバチがブンブン飛び回っています.
スズメガも飛んでいて、空中に停止して蜜を吸っています.

The Nobel Prize in Literature 2017 was awarded to Kazuo Ishiguro,
who is almost the same age as I and was born in Kyushu Island where we live,
therefore I feel his winning the prize delightful.
I read his book 'The remains of the day' several years ago in Japanese.
And I decided to read the original English version,
and I bought a digital book.

2017年のノーベル文学賞はカズオ・イシグロ氏に決まりました.
彼は私と同年代で、私が住んでいる九州で生まれていて、
枯れの受賞をとてもうれしく思いました.
数年前に日本語翻訳版で彼の代表作「日の名残り」を読みましたが
英語で読んでみようと思い、デジタル版を購入しました.

I sat on a chair in the gazebo,
and had a good time reading the book in the morning.
