Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

VEGETABLE FLOWERS AND ROSE IN THE POTAGER (ポタジェのバラと野菜の花たち)

Potatoes have started to flower in a raised bed with the standard rose in the potager. They are long, slender and overgrown, probably because they were planted together with snap peas, but they have been propped up to prevent them from falling over. Harvest is scheduled for the second half of June.

In the raised bed after the onions were harvested, we planted dwarf mini-tomato seedlings, which were raised from seeds sown at the end of February. A few flowers have already bloomed and some of the seedlings have small fruits. Tomato ring supports were set up to support the branches and leaves.

ポタジェではスタンダード仕立てのバラの咲くレイズドベッドでジャガイモの花が咲き始めました。スナップエンドウと一緒に植えていたせいか、細長く徒長気味ですが、支柱をして倒れないようにしています。収穫は六月後半を予定しています。

玉ねぎを収穫したあとのレイズドベッドには、種を2月末に撒いて育てた矮性ミニトマトの苗を植え付けました。すでに花が少し咲いていて、一部の苗には小さな実もついています。行燈仕立ての支柱を設置して枝葉を支える予定です。
