PRUNING CLIMBING ROSES IN EARLY SUMMER (初夏のツルバラの剪定)

Beautiful flowers of climbing roses on the brick wall have almost finished, 

and a rainy season is just around the corner.

So, it's time for pruning some climbing roses in early summer. 

Climbing roses in front of the wall, that is 

'Constance Spry'

'Gertrude Jekyll'

'Teasing Georgia' 

'Pat Austin',

bore fewer flowers year by year.  

One of reasons for that is, I think, 

that pruning was not enough and older shoots increased. 

And another reason is that roses on the brick wall,

'François Juranville' and 'Paul's Himalayan Musk',

grew too much and block sunshine to roses under them

そして、パット・オースチンは

だんだん花つきが悪くなってきました.

その理由のひとつは私が思うには

剪定が不十分で古い枝や細い枝が増えたことでしょう

そしてもう一つの理由は、レンガ塀の植えのバラ、

フランソワ・ジュランビルとポールズ・ヒマラヤン・ムスクが茂りすぎて、

その下のツルバラの日当たりを悪くしていることだと思います.

Today I cut old shoots and thin shoots of four varieties of roses in front of the wall. 

Young thick shoots were pruned a bit shorter. 

Shoots of two varieties of roses overhanging on this end of the wall were cut. 

今日は塀の手前の４種類のツルバラの古い枝、細い枝を切りつめ、

若くて太い枝を少し短く剪定しました.

塀の上で覆いかぶさっている２種類のバラの枝も切りました.

The last one was transplanted this in February and two vigorous shoots are growing.

We planted a young plant of Deutzia crenata.  

Visitors to our garden gave us it as a present yesterday. 

It bears cute whited flowers, and flowering will continues to early autumn. 

Ｉｔ was a happy present. 

ウツギの苗木を植えました.

昨日、庭へのお客様からのプレゼント

可愛い白い花をつけていて、秋の初めまで花を咲かせ続けるとのこと.

うれしいプレゼントでした.
