Red barked dogwood is a shrub whose branches turn bright red from the time the leaves change colour in autumn. It has been growing on the right side of the brick wall for about 10 years. Planted with it is golden barked dogwood, whose branches turn yellow. This year it has turned beautifully again, adding colour to a winter garden that lacks bright colours.
It is a pity that some of the branches died during the summer due to an infestation by pests and that there are a bit fewer branches this year.
サンゴミズキは秋に紅葉する頃からその年に伸びた枝が真っ赤に色づいてくる低木です. レンガ塀の右側に10年ほど育てています. 一緒に植えているのは枝が黄色くなる黄金ミズキです. 今年もきれいに色づいて、鮮やかな色に乏しい冬の庭に彩を加えます.
夏の間に害虫に侵入されて一部の枝が枯れて、今年は少し枝数が少ないのが残念です.
