Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

JACARANDA BLOOMING IN THE BLUE BORDER (青の花壇でジャカランダが咲いています)

Jacaranda is a flowering tree native to Central and South America, and in its native region the flowers bloom before the leaves emerge, giving the whole flowering tree a very striking blue-purple landscape. Jacaranda is often a large tree, making it difficult to grow in private gardens. However, dwarf varieties have been developed which flower at a height of about 5 feet and do not grow so large that they can be grown in small gardens. The dwarf variety ‘Nichinan no Megumi’, which was planted in the ground last spring, flowered again this year, as it did last year. It has very beautiful blue-purple flowers.

ジャカランダは中南米原産の花木で、原産地では葉が出る前に花が咲き、花木全体が青紫に染まる景色はとても印象的です。ジャカランダはしばしば大木となるため、個人の庭では育てにくいのが欠点です。しかし、矮性の品種が開発されていて背丈程度でも花をつけ、大きくなりにくいため小さな庭でも育てられます。昨年春に地植えした矮性品種「日南のめぐみ」が昨年につづき、今年も開花しました。とても美しい青紫の花です。
