Today is the Harvest Moon, and although it was cloudy in the afternoon and I thought I wouldn't be able to see the moon, the clouds gradually disappeared and the full moon was visible.
The buds of a type of cactus, Queen of the night, had been swelling for several days, but this evening the buds swelled even more and began to flower at sunset.
The Japanese name of the plant, 'Gekka-Bijin' means 'beautiful person under the moon', and I was surprised to see it blooming on a full-moon night by coincidence. It really is a beautiful flower.
In the video, you can see the blooming in time-lapse photography.
