My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc.
In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.
I was very surprised to wake up this morning and hear the news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away. I had not expected her to pass away, as two days ago a picture of her smiling and shaking hands with the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Mrs Truss, was published. We pray for the Queen's soul.
Ten years ago, when we travelled to the UK, we bought a doll for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations that she waved at us. The handbag is solar-powered and when the sun shines, she waves her right hand elegantly. It is displayed on a shelf in the garden room. I think she was a queen who was truly respected and loved by people all over the world.
