REFURBISHING TERRACED HERB BEDS (ハーブの段々畑を改修中)

We made terraced herb beds in the main garden in Spring 2009.  

Almost ten years have passed since that, and some parts of pressure-treated timber have rotten, therefore we need to refurbish the frame of beds.

ハーブの段々畑を主庭につくったのは2009年の春でした.

それから10年ほど経って防腐処理された木材も部分的に腐ってきて

ハーブ畑の枠を改修する必要がでてきました.

The frame of the bottommost bed was directly set on the ground 

and has rotted severely.  

So, I replaced with concrete blocks.  

Other frames were set on the concrete blocks 

and damage was less than the bottom one. 

Some rotted parts were removed and replaced with used timber. 

The concrete blocks are going to be painted on the side

and covered by timber on the top.

一番下の畑の枠は直接地面に設置していたので

ひどく腐っていました.

それで、コンクリートブロックで作りなおすことにしました.

他の枠はブロックの上に設置していたので

一番下よりは被害は少なく

腐った一部は切り取って使い古しの木材で置き換えました.

コンクリートブロックは側面はペンキを塗り、

上の面には板を取り付けるつもりです.

This was our last gardening in 2018. 

 We hope the year 2019 will be a good year for everyone. 

これが私たちの平成三十年の最後の庭仕事でした.
