Plums that hadn't even sprouted 10 days ago are flowering quickly in the May-like weather. But today we are back to winter-like weather.
The plum variety is Santa Rosa, with dark reddish-purple fruits that ripen in July. Their acidity makes them suitable not only for eating raw, but also for making jam.
The other day a tit stopped by the nest box on the plum tree to have a look inside, but will they really use it this year?
10日前にはまだ芽もでていなかったスモモが5月のような気候であっという間に開花してきました. でも、今日は冬のような天気に逆戻りしています.
スモモの品種はサンタローザで、7月に濃い赤紫色の実が熟します. 酸味が強いので生で食べるだけでなく、ジャムにも向いています.
スモモの木に取り付けた巣箱に先日シジュウカラがちょっと立ち寄って中の様子を見ていましたが、果たして今年は巣箱を使ってくれるでしょうか?
