Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

HOW TO PAINT OVERHEAD CABLES (頭上の電線にペイントする方法)

I came up with an idea for painting overhead power lines. I attached a string to the part of the spray paint can you press when spraying, making it so that pulling the string down dispenses the paint. By fixing the spray can to the tip of a long bamboo pole and making the string long enough, I could spray paint onto objects several metres above. The tricky part was controlling the height. I sprayed black paint onto the bright green power lines connected to the garden room. The difference might be a little hard to see in the photos.

頭上にある電線にペンキを塗ろうと考えて、アイデアを思いつきました。塗料のスプレー缶のスプレーする時に押さえる部分にひもを取り付けて、そのひもを下に引くと出る仕組みにしたのです。スプレー缶を長い竹竿の先端に固定して、ひもも長くすると数メートル上にあるものに塗料を吹きかけることができます。難しい点は高さのコントロールです。庭のガーデンルームにつながる明るい緑色の電線に黒のスプレーをかけました。写真では違いがちょっと分かりにくいかもしれません。
