My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc.
In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.
Cocktail is a climbing rose with repeated red flowers. It is a little susceptible to blackspot, but even after it loses its leaves, it will produce new branches and bloom beautifully, so we rarely spray it with fungicides.
Chamereon plant (Houttuynia cordata) is a perennial plant that produces white flowers with four petals in early summer. It prefers moist, shady places and spread by underground stems, and is invasive. I've been pulling them out frequently to keep them from overgrowing, so there are only a few flowers.
Japanese star jasmine (Trachelospermum asiaticum) is a vine that produces beautiful flowers with five slightly twisted petals that resemble a windmill. The flowers have a sweet fragrance.
First, concrete blocks were cemented into the ground.
The iron pipe was then cemented into the hole in the concrete block. I used a level to set it up vertically. And I painted the steel pipe with dark brown paint.
