Midsummer in Japan is a harsh season. There are many "extremely hot days" with maximum temperatures of 35°C or more.
There are few flowers in the potager at the moment, but a few roses, foxgloves, asters and dahlias are in bloom.
Summer vegetables such as mini-tomato and water spinach are growing in the raised beds.
The asparagus has sprouted and some has been harvested. Some of the espalier apple trees are bearing fruits, some of which are slightly red.
