Every year the sago palm sprouts new leaves in June and finishes growing in July, after which the leaves turn dark green and mature.
At the moment the leaves are still a little pale and yellowish-green, but in the sun the new leaves glow with a beautiful colour.
The old leaves do not die off immediately, but remain for a while, and they lose their beauty, so I prune them with the lopper when the new leaves appear.
ソテツは毎年６月に新緑を芽吹き、７月に葉が伸び終わり、そのあと緑色が濃くなって大人の葉になります.
今はまだ葉の色が少し薄くて、黄緑がかっていて、日が射すと新緑は美しい色に光り輝きます.
古い葉はすぐには枯れずに当分残りますが、美しさが失われるので、新緑が芽吹いたら太枝切りで剪定するようにしています.
