Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

CUTE FLOWERS OF MUBE (STAUNTONIA HEXAPHYLLA) ARE FULL BLOOMING (ムベの可愛らしい花が満開)

Mube (Stauntonia hexaphylla) flowers are in full bloom in the reinforcing rod arch between the main garden and the bluebell garden. The arches originally had roses, but were replaced by mube about two years ago.

Mube is a vine plant, native to Japan. It produces pretty flowers in spring and egg-shaped fruits of about 10 cm in autumn. The fruit is not commonly eaten, although there is a small amount of pulp around the seed inside. It is a common plant in the wilds and looks a little like the akebi.

メインガーデンとブルーベルの庭の間にある鉄筋のアーチでムベの花が満開になっています。このアーチにはもともとバラを誘引していましたが、2年ほど前にムベに変えました。

ムベはつる性の植物で日本原産です。春に可愛らしい花をつけて、秋に10センチほどの卵型の実をつけます。中の種のまわりにあまり果肉があり食べられますが、あまり一般的に食べられている果実ではありません。野山でよくみられる植物で、アケビにも少し似ています。
