Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

BRITISH FAIR AT HAKATA HANKYU DEPT STORE (博多阪急の英国フェア)

The Hakata Hankyu Department Store holds a British Fair every year around this time. One of the things I was looking forward to was to see handcrafters and cooks from the UK demonstrating and selling their products at this fair, but due to the COVID-19, there is no participation from the UK.

I looked around, including clothes, accessories, food, tea, and alcohol and did some shopping. I bought some fish and chips to take home for dinner. This year was my first time shopping in a department store.

It's been a long time since I've been to the city and I enjoyed shopping.

博多阪急デパートでは毎年この時期に英国フェアが開催されています. 英国から手仕事の職人さんやコックさんなどが、このフェアで実演販売されるのがひとつの楽しみでしたが、コロナ禍のために英国からの参加はありません.

衣服や小物、食べ物や紅茶、アルコールなど、今年もいろいろ見て回って、いくつか買い物をしました. フィッシュアンドチップスを持ち帰りにして、夕食にしました. デパートでの買い物は今年は初めてでした.

久しぶりに街にでて、買い物をして楽しめました.
